Kevin G. Wheeler

Staff Engineer I

Mr. Wheeler is an engineer with seven years' academic and professional experience in water resources and environmental engineering. He brings to Hydrosphere expertise in operational and hydrologic modeling, hydrology, water quality, GIS and field investigations.

Prior to joining Hydrosphere, Mr. Wheeler served in the U.S. Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic and Haiti, where he helped rural communities develop potable water systems. His role there was also one of facilitator, helping to organize local water user committees to secure funding, negotiate watershed conservation plans, develop disaster mitigation strategies and properly administer, operate and maintain their systems.

While at the University of Colorado, Mr. Wheeler worked with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, Environmental Defense, The Nature Conservancy, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on development of operational alternatives and policy analysis of the Colorado River. At the Institute for Arctic and Alpine Research, he conducted water quality and hydrologic field investigations in Antarctica and Alaska.

In 2000, he was awarded the Mikhalevich Scholarship for innovative research approaches to assist policy decisions. This award was based on his work modeling basin-scale surface water pollution in China to study climate change scenarios and management/mitigation policies.

Mr. Wheeler's research has been published in conference proceedings. He holds an MS in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering and a BS in Civil/Environmental Engineering from the University of Colorado.
