K. Kelly Close
Engineering Technician IV
Ms. Close is an environmental planner with 16 years' experience in the development and use of relational database management systems, custom utilities, and GIS for natural resource planning and analysis. Her background includes technical assignments and field work on projects involving surface and groundwater supply planning, modeling and analysis.
Applying industry standard software such as MS Access, MS Excel, ArcView, MapInfo, and Visual Basic, Ms. Close has been responsible for the development of dozens of data management systems. She has managed these projects through all phases: data collection, data review, formatting, processing and analysis, custom tool development, documentation, and training. She has also conducted water rights investigations, depletion analyses, conjunctive use studies, streamflow monitoring, water quality analyses, and environmental impact assessments.
As part of the RiverWare team, Ms. Close has used Riverware to model the impacts of
Pecos River activities on the flows at the New Mexico/Texas state line.
She has modified existing
network objects and rules and has used RiverWare's data management utilities to
compare impacts across multiple scenarios.
Ms. Close provides end-product mapping, graphics, and web site development support for Hydrosphere and has been responsible for the creation and production of high-quality presentation materials for public review, for litigation support, and for publication.
Prior to joining Hydrosphere, Ms. Close worked at the National Park Service in wetland delineation, monitoring and development of educational materials. She holds a BS in Environmental Design and Planning from the University of Colorado.
